Retrospective
If we want to grow, we have to use trial and error to figure out what works. Remember, this whole process isn’t just about doing the thing. It’s also about learning what does and doesn’t work for us.
In her book Tiny Experiments, Anne-Laure Le Cunff shares:
Trial and error are inseparable. Without the willingness to try, we wouldn’t have the opportunity to learn from our mistakes and refine our trajectory. And without reflection, we would repeat the same error in an infinite number of trials. That would keep us busy, but it wouldn’t really help us grow. For sustainable success, we need to pause to learn from each repetition; to make small adjustments each time, picking up new abilities and knowledge along the way.
Enter: a retrospective.
I shared this weekly ritual of mine as a Practice Session for Sarah Sadie’s publication An Inviting Space earlier this year. Sarah has been so generous to pull this article out from behind the paywall for the month of July so that y’all can have access to it:
Now, over to you: Take a moment to pause and reflect on last week.
YOUR RETROSPECTIVE
What went well?
What didn’t go well?
What are you keeping?
What are you letting go of / adjusting?
What did you learn about yourself this week?
→ share one thing you learned in the comments.
YOUR PACT FOR NEXT WEEK
Now, define your pact for next week based on what you learned. It might be the same, or you might make changes.
From Tiny Experiments by Anne-Laure Le Cunff:
”We have very little control over how we feel, which is why it’s hard to force ourselves to feel motivated. A pact solves this challenge by emphasizing doing over planning.”
As a reminder…
I will (action) ____________________________ for (duration) _____________.
→ What is your PACT? Let us know in the comments.
On Monday, I’ll share another short video.
→ You have access to a WhatsApp group where we’ll share wins and support each other during the week. Join now.
→ You can book Time to Think for 1-1 support if things get hard.
→ Have you printed your workbook with reflection questions yet?

Co-working
I’m adjusting:
the time. One hour a day didn’t work well. I will try either 5 hours / week or reduce the time to 30 minutes. I’ll decide Monday.
I learned:
I realized that I was subconsciously trying to build a habit by taking action daily, when for my project, I don’t need daily action. It really doesn’t matter if I spend 5 hours on Monday or 1 hour each week. Somehow, I had this idea that “consistency” and a daily small action is better than one “power” day. Curious!
