Where Do You Draw the Line Now?
An invitation to draw lines together again.
As the summer is coming to an end (I know!),
and I would like to invite you to a meditative, curious, and reflective line drawing gathering.Join us on September 11th. Register here: https://lu.ma/9hiep0tl
At our last gathering, many of us (including myself!) felt surprised by what came up during our brief reflections after each drawing session. W created it to be a thoughtful, curious space, but I did not expect how deep we’d get. It was beautiful; I was moved.
Here are snippets of what some participants shared:
“I loved the weird beauty that came out of it. It’s freeing.”
“At first, I kept thinking: ‘I’m doing it wrong,’ but I just kept adding line after line after line, and now I love what I created.”
“If my lines are wobbly and still beautiful maybe that means I can be wobbly and still beautiful, too.”
Join us next week for another round of meditation, line drawing, and reflection.
🍉 Bonus: We will stick around for an extra 15 minutes to take action.
put together amazing resources on their website and we’ll take action together. If you can’t join us for Draw the Line(s), consider taking a few minutes now explore Sarah’s advocacy resources and take action:https://sarahshotts.com/2025/07/palestine/
Let’s draw line(s) together.
If you’ve been here for a while, you know that I like to draw lines. You may have even spotted them in my Purposeful Connection logo. I enjoy the pattern and being able to start anywhere without a plan; mindfully. I find it fascinating that while the basic movement is always the same, the final image never is.
The Details
When and Where?
September 11th, 11am Pacific Time via Zoom.
Agenda:
intro (5 minutes)
meditation (10-15 minutes)
demonstration / ideas (10 minutes)
3 rounds of drawing, reflecting, and (optional) sharing (45 minutes)
Action via https://sarahshotts.com/2025/07/palestine/ (15 minutes)
You're invited to practice a formal meditation in any posture (seated, standing, lying down, walking), led by
.Here’s a bit about the meditation Logan practices and teaches in their own words:
“I began practicing Buddhist meditation within the Thai Forest Tradition almost two decades ago, but am now fairly eclectic. I'm continually inspired by how creativity and mindfulness can illuminate each other, so I'm honored to offer a secular breath-based meditation to your community.”
Feedback for Logan from a participant: “Logan, I appreciate your presence and calming voice for the meditation practice - it really set the energy and collected us all in a safe, free space together.”
What to bring:
Any kind of pen and any kind of paper. This isn’t about creating masterpieces, so pencil and copy paper is fine if that’s what you’ve got. You can also bring acrylic pens, fine liners, ink pens, ball point pens, fine sharpies, or even watercolor. Basic white paper, a page in your journal, watercolor paper, construction paper, etc. — anything goes!
One of my favorite ways to draw lines is to make watercolor 'blobs’ first and then use the shape of the different colors and shades as a guide for my lines. If you’d like to try this out, I invite you to prepare some blobs ahead of time (marker or highlighter works, too!).
Practice Sheets
I created practice sheets for you that you can download here:

If you’re feeling intimated, I invite you to bring out your inner child (and/ or bring your child(ren) along!). For inspiration, here’s my daughter’s art:
What past participants said:
“I liked the meditation to get us into the calm mindset for creative flow, great container building with messy but authentic engagement in this space - felt really freeing and safe to explore. Loved the simplicity of the line drawing and it's something I can definitely do, yay!”
“I loved the atmosphere, how safe and inviting it felt. The purposeful slowing down (through the meditation and drawing) was really amazing too.”
