This is the easy part :) next week’s follow up is when it gets real! I am grateful for supportive people in my life who nudged me to share these now and to not hold back.
No. 7 all the way for me too, I hate answerng the phone...., I can also relate to coming up with the perfect routine...only to find out it may not actually be perfect and noone else seems to be on board with the vision! How are you...another good one....I strive to answer honestly without it being a downer or too detailed....love how you handle this with your 'more honest' examples.
The others are not my quirks....I enjoyed reading them and admire your self awareness and ability to identify them and openness to share. I like the idea of calling them quirks too....it feels a little lighter.....I like this idea of noticing and naming them whilst calling them simply quirks....I have a feeling I'll be noticing a few more of my quirks over the next few days :-) thanks for the inspiration.
Thanks for sharing which ones resonate with you! This one was the playful, lighter post, it's getting a bit darker next week...And - these can still feel so hard in the moment: I laugh about the temperature in the car but when a missing pen results in tears...that's no fun. Thanks for reading, Victoria!
My "Good and you?" response is so heavily masked over me that rarely I answer differently but every now and then someone catches me at a vulnerable moment and I don't stop talking for 5-10 minutes about everything going on in my life. To me the formality of the question "How are you?" is just silly and I try not to ever ask it unless I really want the person to open up and in that case I prompt them more with something like "Please tell me how are things going in your life?"
Same here. There’s definitely a masked standard response but then there’s also a point (like at the dentist) — especially when I have time to consider an answer— that I don’t want to lie and say “I’m fine” when in fact I’m super anxious. So then the other masked response is the truth wrapped up in a half-joke. Either way, the point is - it’s exhausting!
I love that you went vulnerable here and shared what makes you uniquely you.
I relate to a few but mostly having one deep conversation and considering us friends now. I remember one distinct example where I was sort of rejected later and just didn’t understand.
I hear some rigidity in these quirks too and so relate to that tone as well. I mean this in a positive way.

Definitely some rigidity 😅

Deeper conversations are best when they happen in the dark.

How do you feel letting these out?
Love the random, fun and insightful things in this list. Some really helpful introductions to neurodiversity too. I just subscribed.
