Highlights, Hype, and Hangouts
When you feel uninspired but remind yourself that imperfect action that prioritizes connection is always better than inaction. Thank you for being here 🌀🧡
I’m feeling uninspired to write. Part of me says: just skip this week, it’s fine! And I know it is. No productivity / hustle culture here. Another part of me likes my weekly ritual of writing an email to y’all. So here we go.
Highlights
I just completed my Monday morning check in ritual, Momentum Muse. The first question is always: What went well last week?

Here are some of mine:
I transformed 20 second graders into ants, butterflies, ladybugs, and lightning bugs with facepaint. I didn’t really know what I was doing but did it anyway; and of course they all loved it! Imperfect action beats inaction any day.
I read A Love Song for Ricki Wilde by Tia Williams. Was it the best book ever written? No. Did I absolutely love getting pulled into the story? Absolutely! Bonus: fun ADHD representation.
Book club: I haven’t always loved book clubs because of the demand to read a specific book and having a hard time remembering details. Now that I know why that is, I had an easier time just showing up. We read Where the Line Bleeds by Jesmyn Ward. Exploring themes in depth made it a much richer reading experience.
Speaking up about the importance of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging at a School Board meeting.
Recognizing when a crash was incoming and choosing an episode of Grey’s Anatomy and a nap before a birthday party.
Realizing that demand avoidance and people pleasing is an interesting combination! If you experience this internal battle, who usually wins?
→ What are your glimmers of joy from last week, even if tiny?
What’s the right balance between hyping myself and not asking too much of you, my dear reader?
This publication is not a marketing newsletter. My main goal is connection and for all of us to feel seen and understood and listened to; curiosity, thoughtfulness, compassion. And also, this publication is connected to my work as a coach; and I might be just the right person for you (or someone you know!) and how would you know if I didn’t tell you? I feel like I never get the balance between hyping myself and not asking too much of you right, so I’m just going to say it: below are my coaching offers. Which of these options sounds right for you?

By the way, you can find my free community offers on my website, too.
Hangouts: What makes a good group experience?
I had some great answers to my questions from last week:
It’s not too late to join the conversation! Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
→ As a participant in group settings, what kind of presence or choice from a host helps you feel more at ease in a group?
Group Coaching: Yay or nay?
Part of why I’m asking these questions is because I’m gently exploring what a group coaching program with me could look and feel like. What do you think? Should I keep exploring or abandon the idea?
Let me know that you care by selecting one of these options:
Now I did more hyping than I feel comfortable with and have asked lots from you; click on my website, answer a poll question, leave a comment…! Thanks for sticking around anyway.
I appreciate you more than you know!

Until next week,

My two cents: mention your offer at the bottom of every email like Austin Kleon does his books. When I added “Ways to Support” I started selling more books and getting more paid subs, but I’m going to streamline it to two offers next week. Seth Werkheiser is also a model for this.
Thank you for sharing that powerful statement! Also that is a very cute cat. One thing that went well for me was asking folks on Bluesky for game recommendations for my next post. The topic is something I don’t normally write about, so it was cool to see people eager to offer suggestions. Also, I’m still kind of decompressing from last week’s protest. Mathematically, I was in charge of the safety of upwards of 10k people. But most were well behaved and respectful. A glimmer of humanity in trying times.
