Even though I only have half the pie (AdHD), I really enjoyed this conversation and getting to know more about the experiences of people with AuDHD. Signed up for wicked Wednesday for April too!
I’ve really enjoyed watching this conversation! Thank you to both of you for being bold and exploring it like the big old sandpit called life is inviting us to. I had a thought emerge halfway through that I wanted to share after, and now it’s flown away… but if I get the chance to listen to it again it might come flying back to me :)
Really excited to continue the exploration with you, Hanna, on Monday and feeling fluttery in my tummy thinking we’ll be doing it live too!
Dynamic perpetual motion in feedback is how it 'feels' when I think about it.
It goes slightly further (apologies, this very geeky though😬) in that it is also very elastic and dynamic in 3D (shape) but is actually 4D (non-Euclidean) to represent spacetime and non-linear, hyperconnected thinking (thinking in spirals and constellations, for example).
Love the nature river and tributaries analogy too - constant movement and dynamic feedback. 👌👍
Excellent discussion/exploration! 🙌 Was gutted I only caught the end of the live stream, so really pleased to be able to watch the recording all the way through 😁
Also ADHD, but really relate to a lot of AuDHD experiences. I greatly enjoy and gain a lot from the discussions that are had in AuDHD spaces here.
Really appreciate you teasing out and highlighting the key themes.
Lots of food for thought.
Particularly like the idea of autism providing the scaffolding to create a contained space within which ADHD can play in relative safety and that this is continuous and dynamic feedback between these states. Thinking about it immediately evoked an infinity loop in my mind - apart and together, intersecting and overlapping back and forth in sweeping perpetual motion. All manner of other parts exist within and intersect along this loop, representing the rich complexity of being human. At least, this is the analogy that was inspired in my head, at any rate(!)
"apart and together, intersecting and overlapping back and forth in sweeping perpetual motion." - yes!! I love the way you're describing this. It IS motion. Which is why the playground analogy is a good starting point but doesn't show the whole picture for me. It's that continuous dynamic. I want to continue to think about this, too. And I want someone to create a piece of art, visualizing this! Is there an analogy in nature?
Part of me wants to get more clear on this dynamic within me so I can then lean into it so it's less of a push and pull in different directions but more of an... interplay.
And now I am wondering: how would I go about exploring this? What questions would I want to ask myself daily / weekly / monthly? How does this relate to unmasking? What is a good container and how do I know when the container is solid enough while the ADHD has enough room to play?
Thank you, Jai, for sharing your thoughts and sparking even more questions for me!
I am not sure I like what I did here and some of y'all might come at me for doing this, but I'd rather state my sources than say I came up with it myself... I asked ChatGPT if it had a nature analogy for this. Here's what it said:
"As for a nature analogy, I think of rivers and tributaries. The main river (representing autism) has a defined course, providing structure and direction. But the smaller tributaries (representing ADHD) flow into it from different angles, contributing to the larger movement without disrupting its flow. The dynamic between them is a constant feedback loop, where the tributaries influence the river, and vice versa, without either being totally contained or free. The river still moves forward, but the tributaries help shape its journey."
I'm not sure that's quite it, but maybe it sparks a new idea in a human here.
Aaaah, I knew I had come accross that phrase somewhere (great description, very evocative), but my perimenopausal, ADHD brain simply had no idea where! (!) 😂🙄
Here is a potential metaphor (thanks to Sam Galloway!):
Fractals:
“A fractal is a never-ending pattern. Fractals are infinitely complex patterns that are self-similar across different scales. They are created by repeating a simple process over and over in an ongoing feedback loop.”
and: Chaos theory is part of this!
“Recognizing the chaotic, fractal nature of our world can give us new insight, power, and wisdom.”
“Chaos is not simply disorder. Chaos explores the transitions between order and disorder, which often occur in surprising ways.”
“Systems often become chaotic when there is feedback present.” (as it relates to self-trust and trying to fix things when it might be better to trust to let it unfold and find order again)

I was excited when I saw your Wicked Wednesday sign up come through!
Thank you for watching, Tara, and this comment!

Oh the thoughts that fly away! :) I look forward to exploring this further from a different angle on Monday!!
Thank you! 😊

Don’t apologize!! This geeky idea is what I love to see! Spirals and constellations: I’ve been using that language so much, too!

All this is to say thank you both very much. 😁💜

love this! another connection made 🌀✨
