Hey Hana, this was a great and informative read! I’ve had a couple of family members who have Autism, but either they were scared to reveal it or they were scared to have it diagnosed. Things like ADHD/Austism are taboo topics, especially within the black community. I’m love how you mentioned having a great support system really helps! Having a family that is willing to empathize and give you the support you need makes a huge difference. Thank you so much for sharing this! Your newsletter is awesome by the way! Just subscribed! ❤️💪

Hi Khadejah, thank you for reading and sharing your thoughts AND subscribing! There's still so much stigma, I agree, and your comment is a great reminder that I have a long list of privileges that allow me to talk about it in this way. There are good reasons for individuals not to pursue an official diagnosis and unmasking isn't an option for everyone.

Your comment made me think of this excellent episode of the Divergent Conversations podcast: https://open.spotify.com/episode/3ISiQaroeXeRoQy2SPFEgP?si=cByRtWlVRGKOR09dDwI7sA

Thank you for sparking another connection and joining the conversation!
